The Nautical Institute is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with consultative status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Open to members from the Emirates, we are always warm to new ideas and collaborative efforts to improve maritime standards in the Middle East.

With a rapidly growing potential to support members working predominantly offshore, the branch is continually working to engage and represent professionals at all stages of their careers and across a broad range of sea-going and shore-based roles.

NAUTICAL INSTITUTE - SEAFARERS WELFARE INITIATIVE
During a meeting of the NI committee, the topic of enhancing support for seafarers was discussed. Subsequently, our attention was drawn to a press release in which the ITF criticized a certain flag state for deregistering several vessels at Khorfakkan anchorage without regard for the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) knowing UAE is not a signatory or the well-being of the seafarers on board.
